Functional Fitness is our capacity to carry out fun, rewarding and everyday activities in a strong, injury free manner. Being able to do the things you want to or need to do makes you independent, healthy and happy.
Maintaining our Functional Fitness however does take some work as we age. Unfortunately from the age of around 40, our muscles naturally start to reduce (this is called muscle atrophy) and this really starts to accelerate as we get into our 50’s and 60’s. The good news is we can maintain and even increase our muscle size and strength at any age of life simply by training those muscles.
